There were several industrial buyers in the field when Trekantens Diamantskæring ApS was ready for a generational succession. The company is a well-known name in the industry and is among the largest in its field in Denmark.

Business Broker the seller and, as always, was keen to select the optimal buyer candidate from among the interested buyers. Despite a strong field of industrial buyers, we also chose to contact two individuals who had previously run a business together. Business Broker advised them a few years ago when they sold their successful construction company, Artusbyg A/S.

Whether they would embark on a new business adventure together was uncertain, but it quickly became clear that there was great interest and a good match. The transaction became a reality in January 2024, when Bent Olsen and Jesper Lystbek Jensen took over the company from Klaus Skovgård Nielsen.

The seller wanted the business to continue as a going concern

It was the most optimal match. Not just financially.

"The seller wanted the company to continue as an independent entity. He started the company himself and wanted to preserve the jobs. We ensured this by finding a private buyer. Bent and Jesper have worked together for many years, and they know the industry and understand how to manage a construction site," explains John Nygaard from Business Broker.

Klaus Skovgård Nielsen founded Trekantens Diamantskæring in 1998. It is a solution-oriented company with specialized knowledge and tools within diamond cutting, drilling, wire cutting and floor grinding.

A multidisciplinary team to manage the sales process

The years leading up to 2021 saw solid growth, but several unfortunate circumstances affected the economy in the last two years, so it was a challenged business for sale, but also a business with great potential.

To manage the structured sales process, Business Broker selected Business Broker team of advisors consisting of Klaus Termansen, who has strong financial expertise, and John Nygaard, who, with his engineering background and extensive knowledge of the construction industry, was able to identify the technical opportunities within the company. Among other things, this was important in order to highlight the company's true value as effectively as possible.

"We were in the engine room to see what needed to be done. We had a strong focus on how we could bridge the gap between the past and the future and gain the buyer's confidence that you can create profitable operations again," says Klaus Termansen.

An important industry for the green transition

We succeeded. Diamond cutting and drilling is a niche in the construction industry with a positive future and growing demand. It's a technique that makes it possible to reuse building components and materials to a greater extent than before and is an important part of the green transition.

Among other projects, Trekantens Diamantskæring has been involved in the prestigious building 'The Silo' in Copenhagen, where an old concrete silo has been transformed into new exclusive apartments. Trekantens Diamantskæring has cut holes for windows and other new features in the building.

Happy for new forces in the management hallway

Klaus Skovgård Nielsen decided to sell for health reasons. The former chairman of the board, Anders Hansen, comments on the sales process:

Trekantens Diamantskæring continues under its own name with Bent Olsen as CEO and maintains the three locations in Kolding, Esbjerg and Albertslund.
